Santa’s first visit to Lancaster had a muddy beginning

Lancaster is looking forward to Santa’s;s arrival and the annual holiday parade downtown on Saturday. He is expected to be on time, and thanks to the hard work of many volunteers, everyone will enjoy an exciting parade. Thousands will line the streets along the parade route to welcome him, just as they did for his first visit in 1926. Unfortunately, on Dec. 8, 1926, thousands waited along Santa’s route into town for “hours and hours,” but he did not appear. As darkness fell, broken-hearted children left for home with their parents. All believed Santa had failed them. What had happened to Santa?
